Alvarado and his Adult men proved alternatively insensitive to Aztec conventions once they unwisely attempted to interrupt a ceremony of human sacrifice then massacred users of the Aztec nobility. The Aztecs rose up and killed a variety of the interlopers. In the meantime, Cortés defeated Narváez and persuaded his remaining Gentlemen to join him.
